11/2024 Online moment
The second moment of the assembly, with an online gathering of all Assembly Members
About this assembly
The second moment of the assembly, with an online gathering of all Assembly Members. You can rewatch the session here.
The second assembly of the Democratic Odyssey was held online on November 26th, 2024. It involved over 200 assembly members and represented an important follow-up to the first in-person assembly in Athens, as well as preparation for the following assembly moment in Florence.
The key points that had emerged in Athens around the questions of “What Needs to Be Kept, What Needs to Change, and What Needs to Be Invented” were presented and reviewed during this online meeting, giving members the opportunity to provide feedback and reaffirm the results of their deliberations for a more inclusive, democratic, and proactive approach to governance in Europe. The session was complemented by expert insights on the topic of democratic crisis provided by Richard Youngs, senior fellow at Carnegie Europe and professor of international relations at the University of Warwick, followed by a broader discussion on how this feeedback could be fed back into the preparatory work for Florence.
Additionally, this Assembly session also surveyed Assembly Members to provide feedback on the type of expertise they would like to have represented in the coming Assembly moments, in order to deliver as well-rounded recommendations as possible.
In this session, the Assembly also reinforced the role of ambassadors: from Athens to Florence, from both Athens and Florence to Vienna.
