Tensions? (Florence spirit)

Assembly members disagreed on the ideal relationship between wide-ranging-scale democratic mobilisation and, simultaneously, electoral democracy as it functions today in more densely populated countries. Some saw citizens as watchdogs, to protect checks and balances but others feared citizens do not have the competence or the education required for taking wise decisions. Mauve they should only be involved with the issues they know something about? Others argued that direct democracy is rather utopian or inapplicable in large and congested peripheries.
