Tensions? (Florence spirit)

The Democratic Odyssey’s vision is enthusiastically embraced by the overwhelming majority of Assembly members who remarked that what they were themselves involved in should become known to everyone. Many hoped civic involvement would become not a peripheral or symbolic event but a living and evolving infrastructure of democratic life in Europe. This enduring commitment to participatory and deliberative democracy is essential for facing the complexities of the present and cultivating a just, regenerative, and resilient future. But some had their doubts as to how realistic the prospect would be and whether it would not make the EU even more complex. Some responded that democracy should be about familiarising citizens with this complexity.
